Schürer Saddlery
About Schürer Saddlery
Schürer Saddlery began in the year 2000 primarily as a saddle fitting service with a small inventory of saddles. Our saddle fitter, Sue Schürer, was trained to fit saddles in the United States, England, and Germany. Once in business, it became clear to her that the greatest saddle needs of her clients were actually in repair, refitting, and renovation as to opposed to merely new saddle sales. With that realization she began to learn as much as she could wherever she could about saddle repairs and refitting. This led in 2007 to the study of saddle- and bridle-making at the Saddlery Training Centre in Salisbury, England (http://www.saddlerytraining.co.uk ). In August 2009 Sue received her Level 3 Certificate in Saddle Making from the Worshipful Company of Saddlers and the City and Guilds of London, and in 2010 she completed all of the examinations required for admission to the Society of Master Saddlers as a Qualified Saddler (www.mastersaddlers.co.uk). Her advisors Patrick Keane, Brynn Carl Lowbridge, Kenneth Lyndon-Dykes, and Mark Romain have many decades of experience and have won prestigious prizes, including the coveted Society of Master Saddlers and the British Equestrian Trade Association competitions. She is grateful for their mentoring and support.
Since the summer of 2011, Schürer Saddlery has been specializing exclusively in the repair and refitting of dressage saddles. We no longer sell saddles. We concentrate on improving and enhancing the fit of dressage saddles that our clients already own or of used saddles that they intend to purchase. We believe that we offer better than average saddle fitting services and a superb way to save money. Please read our pages on saddle fitting, repairs, and refitting to see how we can help you to improve the fit of your dressage saddle. We love challenges and spend a good deal of time discussing horse backs and saddles with our clients. Don’t be afraid to send an e-mail or to call and chat with us.
Our mission is fit, value, and education. We can replace or adjust saddle trees, seats, stirrup bars, billets, foam, flocking, gussets, gullets, knee pads, and blocks — all of this to make your saddle fit you and your horse better. More recently we have become the only saddlery that repairs the adjustment mechanisms in Laser Saddles and we also repair the mechanisms in other adjustable saddles so be sure to ask about them. Saddle renovation is a good way to save money and to rejuvenate a worthy older saddle. Fit, fit, fit and quality. That's who we are. Contact us for educational programs and clinics.
